I spent my childhood years on a grazing property in country Queensland, fostering an early fascination for nature. I was often on my own then and that memory of being alone is evident in landscape paintings that are entirely devoid of life and rarely show signs of human encroachment. They do not represent loneliness but rather are a celebration of isolation and solitude. They explore the dynamics of the landscape itself in a nostalgic way and through the manipulation of effects establish a link between the landscape's reality and that imagined.

I paint the surroundings I am familiar with or places I have visited and in that sense they are autobiographical.
